Viper Spaulding
Whew! What a breathtaking ride! Jesse and Hanna share a six-month-old son, but they're not together, mostly because right before Evan was born Hanna was shot and was left with significant memory loss, including her relationship with Jesse. Now, the man who was arrested for shooting her has escaped from jail, and as a local deputy, Jesse is on the case. As with all of this author's romantic suspense tales, there's always so much more to the story than what's initially apparent. This is a complex whodunit, filled with secrets, betrayals, and twists that come out of practically nowhere, but it all makes sense once all the facts are laid bare. Throughout it all, the soul-deep connection between Jesse and Hanna becomes so apparent that they can no longer ignore it. I really loved how the romance was developed, how Hanna learned to trust her instincts when her memory failed her, and how her heart felt safe enough to fall in love again despite all the bullets constantly firing around her. Ms. Fossen has delivered another stellar romantic suspense story and I'm once again in awe of her ability to draw the reader in with compelling characters and edge-of-your-seat action. If you love damsels in distress being rescued by their own personal heroes, this is the author for you. I highly recommend this as one of her best. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
