About this ebook

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

A People Magazine Pick * US Weekly “Must” Pick * Named “Best Book of the Summer” by Glamour * Good Housekeeping * USA TODAY * Cosmopolitan * PopSugar * Working Mother * Bustle * Goodreads

A breathtaking new novel about a young woman whose fate hinges on the choice she makes after bumping into an old flame; in alternating chapters, we see two possible scenarios unfold—with stunningly different results.

At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?

In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps, most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?

Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.

ugh. been done before and this book could have been cut in half if the author omitted all the whining and lamenting about feelings. I'm actually upset that I wasted time reading this drivel. main character is a floozy who was sleeping with a married man. yet after they part ways she meets not only one, but 2 perfect guys in 2 different outcomes. give me a break. would have been more realistic if it was like the butterfly effect, where in one reality everything went poorly. Too much info that doesn't make sense and way too much droning on.

Borderline entertaining. As a critical care/trauma nurse, this book's depiction of the hospitalization/recovery was so wildly unrealistic that it made it difficult to read at times. Dr Winters is like this strange friend who is always present in the story, has anyone patient or professional EVER seen a doctor spend THAT much time at a bedside? I have never seen an RN get "transferred" to another floor because of their "interest" in a patient. Can you imagine the managerial headache? Well I had coverage for these shifts, but ol' Henry had to go eating pudding with the lady in room 6, so he gets the boot, guess we are short staffed people! How is it that Henry is somehow ALWAYS there? Does the man not get a day/night off? She is there for 2 WEEKS. The guarded way the ENTIRE hospital seems to have in regards to their "relationship" is so outlandish to me. Babe, you are at a level 1 trauma center, this is no tiny hospital. Sigh, had potential if she just did some research.
