About this eBook

'The playful, obstinate and courageously humorous tone of Zephaniah's writing shines through ... hilarious and later heartbreaking' Guardian

A teacher is dead, murdered by two of his students in front of the whole school.

Right in front of Jackson Jones.

But Mr Joseph was a good man – people liked him, respected him. How could those boys stab him and jog away like nothing had happened?

Unable to process what he has seen, Jackson begins his own investigation: everyone knows who did it, but as Jackson uncovers more about the boys, he becomes convinced that people need to understand why.

Brilliantly written and with a real ear for dialogue, fans of Angie Thomas and Malorie Blackman will love Benjamin Zephaniah's novels for young adult readers:

Refugee Boy
Face
Gangsta Rap
Teacher's Dead

My Review On Teacher’s Dead! When I had read Teacher’s Dead I was very surprised on how Benjamin Zephaniah had added a twist to the story by leading on the reader. He had a lot of detail in this book which had made the book more modernised. Teacher’s Dead is about a boy called Jackson Jones who had witnessed a teacher at his school been stabbed. Jackson didn’t understand why this teacher had been stabbed, he thought everyone liked this teacher, he thought he was a nice person. So why would these two boys want to stab him? These where the questions on Jacksons mind, He wanted to find out why it happened! When I first starting reading this book I got very into it, I thought wow how could one boy be so determined to find out the truth? Wow. Amazing. I didn’t want to put the book down it was so interesting and when I got to the end i was so surprised with the twist that had been made. In the end of the book the two boys who had killed the teacher hadn’t done it deliberate, they both was being bullied and the pressure that had been put on them scared them which ended a bad way. The two boys was sent to prism and well the bullies you’ll have to find out yourself. By Jodie Chap

About the author

Benjamin Zephaniah is probably one of the most high-profile international authors writing today, with an enormous breadth of appeal, equally popular with both adults and children. Most well known for his performance poetry with a political edge for adults and ground-breaking performance poetry for children, Benjamin also has his own rap/reggae band, and has appeared on desert Island Discs. He is in constant demand internationally to perform his work: he is (he thinks) Nelson Mandela's favourite poet, and is the only Rastafarian poet to be short-listed for the Chairs of Poetry for both Oxford and Cambridge University. His previous novels for Bloomsbury are Face, Refugee Boy and Gangsta Rap. He has also edited an anthology of poems, The Bloomsbury Book of Love Poems.
