Alright! The Better To See You is book 2 in the Transplanted Tales series, and though you will get a better overall view of the overarching storyline and the world, you don't absolutely HAVE to read the first one. I suggest it, however. First of all, I enjoyed the book. The world Mrs. SeRine built is actually pretty neat and I enjoyed meeting yet more 'Tales' (fairy-tale characters who ended up in our world) and learning some more about the ones we already met in book 1. Red, Nate, Trish, and Seth are all in the book to one degree or another. This is Seth and Lavender's book, and I was so happy that he finally got his happily ever after it's ridiculous. Poor guy deserves it. The perspective is Lavender's throughout the book and it is, sadly, first person (just personal preference here). Lavender is an interesting character who, though I didn't adore her like I did Red, I still came to enjoy. She grew a lot. Her brother was a very fun character to throw into the mix, if a bad influence on her. My only real knock at the book (and the reason it's four stars) is that it felt really long. I think maybe the pacing was a bit off. I liked the book and didn't want to not finish, but it did seem to drag a bit. The first had a similar issue, so it might be the author's writing style, but I do hope she picks up the pace in the next one (I definitely intend to read Trish's book). This book has interesting fairy-tale iterations, some action, a healthy dose of magic, some trouble making fairies, a nasty no-good evil baddy, some steamy fun, a sweet romance, some heartbreak, and some mending of fences. Definitely should give it a go.
