It tells the story of Richard Shelton during the Wars of the Roses (14551487): how he becomes a knight, rescues his lady Joanna Sedley, and obtains justice for the murder of his father, Sir Harry Shelton.The ebook contains the beautiful illustrations of a 1916 edition.It also has a biographical profile of Stevenson written by English poet and critic Edmund Gosse (18491928) in 1911.

Stevenson developed a desire to write early in life, having no interest in the family business of lighthouse engineering. He was often abroad, usually for health reasons, and his journeys led to some of his early literary works. Publishing his first volume at the age of 28, Stevenson became a literary celebrity during his life when works such as Treasure Island, Kidnapped and Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were released to eager audiences.
