This is my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed. Algernon and Trina are the cutest couple. They have the most adorable interaction. There is an unknown danger their happily ever after. I started this book thinking I might not get very far reading it. Rain, days of the week, date of a day, making sure his carriage is all right before he gets into it, ravens, etc. Algernon Wright, Earl Draconhawthshire, is over the top superstitious to the point of being obnoxious. Granted his father and brother both died at twenty-five, he is conveniced he will die at the same age in less than a year. What he wants is a wife and have an heir as soon as possible. Once he meets and marries Riena, he starts to think about his obsession and the happiness he could have until he dies. When anonymous unlucky gifts start arriving for Riena, a Bow Street Runner steps in. Much more interesting with sideline characters that bring some humor to the book and step up the pace.
