A German philosopher who took classes from Hegel, Feuerbach is a critical link between Hegel and Marx. Feuerbach created a de-sacritized version of the Hegelian Historical Dialectic, which Marx built his entire religious system upon. Feuerbachs work focused on the critique of religion and the philosophy of materialism. His most influential work, "The Essence of Christianity," argues that religion is a projection of human aspirations and that God is a construct of the human imagination. Feuerbach greatly influenced Marxist and humanist thought, even to this day.
