With this new work, Gore hopes to help start a conversation about the large-scale drivers of change that are defining and shaping our future - from the rapid development and integration of radically new technologies to the planet-changing impact of the climate crisis, to poverty, globalization, and the democratisation of knowledge accompanying the emergence of a ubiquitous internet linking ever more intelligent devices.

Al Gore is chairman of Current TV, an independently owned cable and satellite non-fiction television network for young people based on viewer-created content and citizen journalism. He also serves as chairman of Generation Investment Management, a firm that is focused on a new approach to sustainable investing, and the Alliance for Climate Protection, a non-profit philanthropy dedicated to solving the climate crisis. Gore is a member of the Board of Directors of Apple, a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and a senior advisor to Google.
Gore was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1976, 1978, 1980, and 1982, and to the US Senate in 1984 and 1990. He was inaugurated as the forty-fifth Vice President of the United States on January 20, 1993, and served eight years. In 2007, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
He is the author of the international bestsellers Earth in the Balance, An Inconvenient Truth, and The Assault on Reason.
