Ford was born on December 17, 1873, in Merton, Surrey, England, and passed away on June 26, 1939. With a grand literary heritage – his grandfather was the pre-Raphaelite painter Ford Madox Brown – Ford grew into an forefront figure of the modernist literary scene.
