About this eBook

A new translation of Marcel Proust's 1920 "The Guermantes Way" (Le Côté de Guermantes), the third installment of his classic series In Search of Lost time. This edition contains a new Afterword by the translator, a timeline of Proust's life and works and a glossary of philosophic concepts in his body of work. In the third volume of "In Search of Lost Time," "The Guermantes Way," the narrator delves into the world of aristocracy and high society. He becomes acquainted with the Guermantes family, and his perceptions of them are contrasted with his previous idealizations. Proust explores the themes of social class, jealousy, and the fragility of social status. Through the narrator's observations and reflections, the novel offers profound insights into the illusions and aspirations of the upper classes and the complex dynamics of human relationships.
