About this eBook

Communing with spirits has been both gift and curse to Emme Walters. Now it's made her a killer's target. Emme knows why the Dowager Duchess of Briarleigh invited her to a house party--to investigate whether the duke, Rhys Brammel, murdered his wife years ago. But Emme never imagined she would fall in love with the brooding duke. Branded by society as a possible killer, Rhys is suspicious of Emme and her alleged "gift." Then a late night encounter creates awareness of her other, more attractive, aspects. When Emme's life is threatened, Rhys becomes her protector. Emme and Rhys find passion and peril as they join forces to solve the mysteries at Briarleigh. She made him believe in spirits, but can she make him believe in love?

I'm not into ghost stories so I was surprised that this held my interest. Thankfully, there's so much more to the plot than just ghosts. There is a lot of passion between the H/h and as one character from the book describes, they go at it like rabbits. You meet several secondary characters that will have their own stories, too.

On the one hand, I really loved the story line of this book. Unfortunately, a few questions were left unanswered at the end, and there was a whole chapter repeated at the end. The epilog was repeated as well, but written marginally different. There were also a lot of editing errors throughout the book as well. Areas where there should have been the word "he" in between to words, or the word "the" but "they" was written instead. If I were an editor, I would not want to take credit for editing this book. Very poor job of editing. If certain things were corrected in this book, it would be really good. Also, sex scenes started to get old 3/4ths of the way through the book.

This was such a good book & I was hooked just a few pages in to it & couldn't put it down until the end. It has everything you want - historical romance, mystery, some mysticism, some spice & engaging characters. Emme & Rys were such a great couple & their journey was a fun one to be part of. I highly recommend this book & cannot wait to dive in to Book 2 in this series!

About the author

Chasity Bowlin lives in central Kentucky in a house that has more character than woking parts. She loves writing, loves traveling and enjoys incorporating tidbits of her actual vacations into her books. She is an avid Anglophile, loving all things British, but specifically all things Regency.

Growing up in Tennessee, spending as much time as possible with her doting grandparents, soap operas were a part of her daily existence, followed by back to back episodes of Scooby Doo. Her path to becoming a romance novelist was set when, rather than simply have her Barbie dolls cruise around in a pink convertible, they time traveled, hosted lavish dinner parties and one even had an evil twin locked in the attic.

Addicted to caffeine, chocolate and internet cats, Chasity loves hearing from readers and can be reached at [email protected].
