The Heartbreaker

I enjoyed reading The Hearbreaker by Carly Phillips, book threee in The Chandler Brothers series, numerous times as this was my favorite story in the series. This 20th anniversary reissue of the original edition is updated and has a new cover. The original sits on my keeper shelf, that’s how much I love this series. We have three brothers; each totally different with none of them wanting to marry. There’s also their mother who has devised a plan to get each of her boys to marry. The relationship between the brothers and their mother and the brothers themselves is written wonderfully. You sense the love and respect they have for each other as well as see the teasing and shenanigans between the brothers. As the eldest of three brothers, small town journalist Chase Chandler has waited a long time to leave his small-town roots behind; putting his dreams on hold while helping with younger trouble making brothers and taking over the reins of the family newspaper. All bets are off when the single journalist meets a redhead who attracts his attention while in Washington D.C. on business. Sloane Carlisle isn't just any woman; she is a senator's daughter; about to plunge him into the eye of a breaking political scandal and a shot at a story that's already making headlines. All Chase needs to do is keep her safe. Sloane Carlisle isn’t just any woman. She’s a senator’s daughter whose world has been rocked by news that devastates her and she finds solace in Chase’s arms. She never expected to see Chase again, except when she heads to the small town of Yorkshire Falls to uncover the truth about her family, she runs headlong into the man she can’t forget. Suddenly he’s by her side. Chase watched his siblings fall in love and marry. Suddenly the man who thought he was finished raising a family wants one with the woman who made him believe in love at first sight. Now Chase has to figure out how to convince Sloane to give them a chance to be together forever. This book is not as sexy as Phillips’ more recent books, but still has those loveable characters that you want to cheer on, hoping for their happy ending. Ms. Phillips wrote a wonderful, emotional and sizzling story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with chemistry, amusing banter, lots of shenanigans and charming secondary characters giving Chase and Sloane a chance for happiness, love and a future together. I highly recommend The Heartbreaker to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Sloane then head to Yorkshire Falls where her biological father lives but who does she encounter but her one night stand, Chase. Secrets, suspense, hot steamy fun, confronting their Mother about her faking her illness and through all these ups and downs Chase and Sloane will find HEA!

Great reread This is my favorite chandler brother. Youget to see all three getting their lives In order and moving on. Chase getting to leave the small town and try to write a huge story he did t expect what that would me and that it would bring him back home as personal protection. Chase and Sloan are so great and I loved finding out how everyone deals with secrets for the past when politics are involved. This was one of my first books by Carly Phillips of course 20 years ago when this series first came out and it is still one of my favorites and very glad I followed Kelly Ripas book recommendation for the bachelor and this series.
