Kathryn Anderle
The prose were pedestrian and lacked any subtlety. The story line was standard and could have worked if the author had done sufficient research into the sensibilities of lairds of that time period. She often used modern ideals to promote the plot, rather than historically timely ideals. Additionally, every thought of every character was overtly described, this made me feel like I was a dimwit in need of simplistic explainations.

I was loving the first part of the book and could not put it down.
Unfortunately the book went south from there on. I had difficulty finishing
the book. And shipped over several parts. I went from loving to truly
disliking the female character. Her pride was over the top and made her
hero look like a wimp not a strong Laird. Parts of the book such as the
birth and the face off of the villains were skimmed over , while Laurals
extremely unreasonable trantrums where too lengthy. Truly disappointing

im at the third chapter and finding it hard to keep focus. i can't wrap my head around the fact that they seem head over heels for each other after only a few days. Romance feels a bit forced to me.
