Worst book Cathy Kelly ever wrote. Basically boils down to: If you make more money than your brothers (and are a woman- internalized sexism, anyone) you're evil and deserve to be punished. If you have an opinion different from the town elders, you're evil. If you buy your parents Champagne on their birthday, you're evil - yes, she really made that point. I could go on. Also bees don't sting, unless someone threatens them or their hive - which is why you should devinetly combine them with small children that like to explore and touch everything...
