About this eBook

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.

Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

This is absolutely not the sort of novel that I would normally read, but my mother kept insisting that I try it. It just proves the adage that "Mother knows best". I really enjoyed it, in spite of being convinced that I would not. I was very quickly absorbed in the world of this novel, routing for both of the main female protagonists all the way and I even shed a few tears along the way. It is slightly too long perhaps, and would probably benefit from some tighter editing, but I was gripped by it.

This is my favourite book! I usually can't read a book more than once but I have read this one a dozen times, it never gets old. I'm glad I gave it a shot as I don't read sci-fi normally, but this book is special. I watched the movie first, and didn't particularly care for it, but the book is amazing.
