Acerca deste libro electrónico

A wry, incisive satire of envy and ambition following a failed novelist’s absurd quest to sabotage his more successful rival.

Richard Tull, a disillusioned and failed novelist, seethes with envy as he watches his longtime friend Gwyn Barry, a mediocre, populist writer, rise to literary stardom. Barry is adored by readers, celebrated by critics, and constantly in the public eye, while Tull sinks deeper into obscurity, unable to escape the evidence of his own failure. Determined to claw his way out, Tull devises a plan to ruin Barry—gathering the secrets and information that could lead to his downfall.

But both men are being watched. Dangerous men have their sights set on their families, quietly observing their lives and waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Laced with Amis’s signature linguistic brilliance and savage bite, The Information probes the uncomfortable truths of human nature: the corrosive power of envy, the absurdity of rivalry, and the hollow victories of modern fame. By turns hilarious and devastating, this novel is a keen-eyed satire on the literary world—and the peculiar cruelties we inflict on ourselves in the pursuit of recognition.
