I had forgotten about this little gem for 30 years and, spotting the film, The Iron Giant, the memories came flooding back. My dad read this to me a ridiculous number of times (and he never said no bless him :)). If you read anything to the kids in your family you can't go far wrong with this.

The movie is very different to the original story, but I love the way the author describes the iron man's world. Very lyrical.
