About this eBook

The Climax of the Entire Thomas Covenant Chronicles

After more than three decades, having attained bestseller status all over the world, The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant reaches its conclusion. This is a truly historic moment in fantasy, as Stephen R. Donaldson’s innumerable fans learn the final fate of the Land.

The Worm of the World’s End is roused, seeking the ruin of all things....

Compelled step-by-step to actions whose consequences they could neither foresee nor prevent, Thomas Covenant and Linden Avery have fought for what they love in the magical reality known only as “the Land.” Now they face their final crisis. Reunited after their separate struggles, they discover in each other their true power—and yet they cannot imagine how to stop the Worm of the World’s End from unmaking Time. Nevertheless, they must resist the ruin of all things, giving their last strength in the service of the world’s continuance.

You risk much, as you have ever done. Mayhap you will prevail. If you do not, your worth is not thereby diminished.

I was excited about this third series but I found it overly repetitive and a rather dull read. I kept trudging through it, much like the characters were, hoping it would get better. It didn't.

Such as Edgar Rice Burrows, Tolkien, Piers Anthony and Terry Brooks have been the steadfast names and source of mind absorbing stories that create worlds and characters that readers can't get enough of. I have been reading fantasy novels since I was in the third grade ( 1950's and I won't date myself further ) and have been captured by most of the best American fantasy writers as have so many others. To say one is better than the other is almost impossible for obvious reasons but I can remember only a few that I felt were the great reads in my life. Tolkien, George Martin, David Eddings certainly make my list, but one you don't hear of from the usual book lists is Stephen R Donaldson. I believe him to be one of the top three authors of Fantasy and his books ,specifically the Thomas Covenant Trilogy were the most captivating books I have read in the last forty years. If you have not added him to a must read bucket list then stop reading this now and purchase, barrow or steal, the first book of Thomas Covenant ( White Gold Wielder ) and proceed to have a truly wonderful experience. I just wish it could be my first time again.
