About this eBook

A farmer joins Dalforce, a volunteer army formed to fight against invading Japanese forces during World War II. Follow his poignant journey as he sets off for training and gets deployed in the mangrove swamps of Woodlands. Written and illustrated by Weng Pixin, this action comic spins a story around the battle at Kranji Beach in 1942.

About the author

I grew up listening to stories by my father, who was curious about the way the world works. In turn, when it comes to my art, I love to create semi-autobiographical comics that weave memories, experiences, stories and fantasies.

Apart from comics, I love to draw, sew, paint and construct objects using repurposed materials. My art is a lot more process-driven where the final outcome is not the key interest, but rather—being with the act of making itself, either on my own or with others. The making can be felt as a continual flow of playing and immersing in a unique time and space, where the adult-me meets the child-me to process our experiences together.

When I am not working on my own art projects, I facilitate art workshops for children to engage in fun creative art processes.
