"5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth" by "The Oatmeal" (aka Matthew Inman) is a hilarious collection of comics pulled from Inman's popular Web site.
Inman uses software intended for Web-site development to draw some outstanding images (his Tyrannosaurus rex, for example, is a feat of art), but his "human" characters are rather feature-less and rotund. This is not a flaw of Inman's capabilities but rather an approach to allow the reader to see him- or herself in the situations depicted in his drawings.
"5 Reasons" is laugh-out-loud funny, but, despite being a collection of comics, the book is definitely not intended for children. The "F word" (used as an adjective, exclamation, etc.), prostitution, and drugs are present in the book -- not in a glorified way but I think most parents would agree that a child's bookshelf is not the best place to house "5 Reasons."

I got this ebook out of the library & I'm glad I didn't pay money for it - it's a bunch of low res images, you can't even read them. Go to the website or buy the dead tree version, skip this pathetic ebook version.

The only problem with this app is the pictures are tiny, then when you zoom in they get pixilated. I would really be mad if I had bought the book.. But oh well. The humor is awesome, it is hilarious, and the art is awesome. I'm giving it five stars because it highly deserves it in every way except the small comic strips. Good job oatmeal.
