About this ebook

"The Raven" is a narrative poem written by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. After its first publishment in January 1845, it was often noted for its musicality, stylized language, as well as for its supernatural atmosphere. It tells of a talking raven's mysterious visit to a distraught lover, tracing the man's slow fall into madness. The lover, often identified as a student, is lamenting the loss of his love, Lenore. Sitting on a bust of Pallas, the raven seems to further distress the protagonist with its constant repetition of the word "Nevermore". The poem makes use of folk, mythological, religious, as well as of various classical references.

Poe inspired me as a child.. I wrote what came, not what was expected. The Raven helped me in ways I can't explain, I think.. bc it carried my tribal name.. Only one other poet has stopped me in my tracks so quickly like Mr Poe did.. and that was Ms. Maya. May they both have incarnated into a life filled with joy, laughter, and the true family love that they didn't receive during this one... yet wholly deserved ..

I have always loved Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven. A book of Historical Classic Prose which I finally have in my collection forever more. Thanks to the prices of the purchased downloads from Google Play Store at long last I own my first digital collection of Poe's published works that are downloadable in PDF format. I love Google Play Books. Every college student I've ever met has read The Raven and other works by Edgar Allen Poe in Literary Courses and written reports on it.
