The rain poured in torrents, a relentless drumming against the windows of the old Victorian house. The night was swallowed by an eerie darkness, broken only by flashes of lightning that briefly illuminated the decrepit mansion. As the night wore on, Rhonda's gaze fixated on a weathered portrait of a raven perched above the fireplace. Its eyes seemed to follow her every move. Curiosity piqued, she approached the painting.

"Isn't that the oddest thing?" she remarked, her voice trembling. "It's as if this raven is watching us."

Before anyone could respond, a loud, chilling cry echoed through the house, piercing the silence. The group exchanged startled glances.

"What was that?" Elizabeth gasped, her eyes wide with fear.
