Good mystery, and if memory serves, had more details than the movie. Very disappointed that the treasure could not be recovered, I like happy endings in fiction. The french words that showed up occasionally were a little lost on me, since i dont speak french, but did not detract from the story. No clue why spencer blacketts list of books shows up after the end of the book???

A fantastic read non-stop enjoyment. I do wish the German and French quotes were translated, however this would be difficult on many levels. Reading it anywhere on my smart phone was a novelty that is bound to become normal for me . Tally-ho!

Darkly atmospheric and captivating story. Perhaps the most underrated in the Holmes series. Much preferred it to Study in Scarlet. My only gripe is that it could've been longer.
