Sarah used to take a shortcut home after school through a railroad tunnel. Unfortunately, on October 31, 1902, Sarah never made it home. Sarah's mangled body was discovered on the railroad tracks the next morning in the tunnel where she walked home from school every day. Sarah never had a chance to get out of the tunnel alive. The tunnel was too long and the train was too fast. The conductor of the train stated that he saw the little girl running on the railroad tracks. The conductor said he blew the train's whistle but there was no way the train could avoid the little girl.

Legend has it that if you call out Sarah's name three times when you’re walking along the railroad tracks you will see an apparition of a little girl crying and running down the railroad tracks. You can also see a light shining on the apparition and the sound of a train's whistle.
