A great period piece, a sort of romantic aside to "The Laviathon', full of first person descriptions of the Bay Area and Northern California in the first decade of the Twentieth Century. Much of the story follows portions of London's own life experience and it's peppered with interesting linguistic colloquialisms and decidedly not PC social commentary. Thoroughly enjoyable read.
