About the author

Tilak Doshi was Research Associate of the ASEAN Econoic Research Unit at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore, and currently affiliated to the Energy Program of the Resource Systems Institute, East-West Center, Honolulu. He obtained his M.A. in Economics with Distincion form Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, in 1982 and worked with the New Zealand Department of Statistics. His research interests are in the areas of resource economics and the management of hydrocarbon resources in the Pacific Basin. He has published research on Singapore's energy economy as well as on economic development in Malaysia.
