Four high school students’ find a way to make a way, for themselves, their community and their family. Growth and maturity were inevitable. Transitions, we all experience some level of it. From the loss of a loved one to graduating junior high school and starting high school, we find ways to adjust and thrive. What do you do in the face of adversity? These four students realized they could lean on one another and push through anything. Understanding their strengths and weaknesses allowed them to support one another in ways most high school students can’t imagine.

Steve Robinson, born September 11, 1988, raised in South Central, Los Angeles, CA to parents who both served and met in the army. One of six children, I have three sisters and two brothers. I attended Crenshaw High School and played several sports: basketball, ran track, tennis, and even was a proud participate of the swim team, despite my fear of diving. I had the pleasure of attending the University of Houston were I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Communications in May of 2010. In 2014, I began working with our youth at the YMCA being a Play Coach for one year. One year later, in 2015, I became a PE teacher for a Charter School in South LA, named Libertas College Prep. At the end of that school year, I was promoted to the Assistant Dean for one year and then became the full time dean. From 2017-2020, I had the pleasure of inspiring and being inspired by our youth in ways I could've never imagined. Writing is my life and has been my life for the past twenty plus years. My goal is to have this book in high school english curriculums.
