About this eBook

Caine O'Roarke regretted vanishing into thin air and leaving Lexie Hollister asleep in his bed – but he had no choice.  The mercenary had been called in for an urgent mission in the middle of the night.  He'd miss Lexie, but the former Seal told himself both he and Lexie would both get over it.  They'd been completely wrong for each other – in all but one way.

Eleven months later, when Lexie's father asks Caine to rescue his daughter from the civil war in San Rafael, he barely recognizes Lexie.  The former party girl has grown up, and she's the only nurse in a small village.  And she has a child.  His child.

Will Caine be able to save the woman he hasn't been able to forget?  Will Lexie be able to forgive him for disappearing?  And will they be able to survive the jungle and figure out how to create a family?

I really enjoyed This book. I love reading romance with adventure and this story did not dissapoint. There was great chemistry between Lexie and Caine as they struggled through the jungle. The story was well written and made me feel like I was there with them. Full of emotion too which left me with a lump in my throat.

When Caine was given the job of rescuing his boss’s daughter from the small village of San Rafael because of a civil war, he didn’t hesitate to go. He had dated Lexie about a year earlier so he knew the girl well. She only cared about herself and having a good time. He couldn’t imagine what she was doing in a remote Mexican village. When he found her, she was nothing like the woman he had known. She was now a nurse, responsible for an entire village. And she had a baby. When she learned that Caine had come to take her home, she didn’t want to leave her friends/patients. This was a bit hard to swallow. Couldn’t she understand that she would be killed if she stayed? And wasn’t getting her baby to safety more important and the people in the village? The trek through the jungle was tense. Caine’s skills at evading the men who were after Lexie was impressive. Especially when he had the baby to worry about, too. Somehow Lexie kept her quiet by feeding her often. I can’t believe that would really work. Babies cry for other reasons and not just because they are hungry or need to be changed. But this baby didn’t cry – ever. Caine believed he wouldn’t make a good father so he wouldn’t even look at the child. When he couldn’t put it off any longer and held her, he melted when she smiled at him. I loved Caine's reaction. Making their journey even harder was Lexie and Caine’s misunderstanding about how they felt about each other. It made me feel sorry for them. 3.5 stars
