Tom Sawyer, Detective is a mystery story involving stolen diamonds and a twin brother, long since presumed dead. The twin, named Jake Dunlap, is a burglar who has escaped prison years ago and has recently teamed up with two more of his kind to steal two diamonds worth many thousands of dollars. During their treacherous dealings with each other, Jake has stolen the diamonds from his partners in a surprising way. The two bilked thieves are now in pursuit of Jake and are bent on killing him and recovering the diamonds.

ስለደራሲው

Mark Twain (1835-1910), quien en realidad se llamaba Samuel Langhorne Clemens, era un chico de once años cuando murió su padre y tuvo que ganar el sustento trabajando como aprendiz en una imprenta. En poco tiempo dominó el difícil oficio de tipógrafo, que le iniciaría en el mundo literario, y siendo adolescente aún comenzó a soñar con ver su nombre en un periódico. Así que de forma precoz inició su carrera autoral con relatos breves, en los que se insinuaba el talento que caracterizaría su pródiga y original obra.

Como escritor, Twain revolucionó la narrativa en lengua inglesa con su prosa realista, coloquial, cargada de buen humor y pletórica de fantasía.

Creador de personajes veraces y vívidos, en cientos de títulos demostró su genio fabulador. Por el humor de su relato "La célebre rana saltarina del condado de las Calaveras", compuesto a los treinta años, adquirió fama en su país. Enseguida Mark Twain se convirtió en un autor leído por miles y hasta su muerte a los setenta y cinco años publicó más de 500 volúmenes.
