Bar none Luke Short, (Frederick D. Glidden) is my favorite Western writer. 'Barren Land Showdown' is my favorite "NorthWestern", and set in the late 1940's. He wrote more than 60 Westerns, my second favorite being "Dead Freight for Payute'. 13 Luke Short westerns were made into full length hollywood movies, such as: 'Blood on the Moon', 'Ramrod', or 'Vengeance Valley', starring Burt Lancaster. Enjoy!
