I bought this book because of its depiction of diverse children and families, but LOVE LOVE LOVE the story about the power of imagination. When we were kids we had a ton of kids shows that centered on the power of imagination, but we've lost that over the generations. Grace's Playdate reminds kids that just because they have to play by themselves sometimes doesn't mean they can't create ways to not feel alone. Grace using her stuffed animals to transform into her friends is a unique story that is also universal.

Wow, excellent book! Representation matters, and with this book, you have it. My daughter loves Grace and how her imagination includes her family and friends. We should all wish to have friends who love and accept us just the way we are. Great read!
