Tyral was returning to see his family one last time before he reached his 30th year and died, according to the curse of his people, because he was not mated. His final search for a suitable mate had failed. But before he could land on the planet, a tractor beam latched on to his ship. Pirate slavers were about to attack him. Dorsey Kwan, a human freighter pilot, had been a prisoner of the slavers for about a week. They kept her disoriented by not letting her sleep more than a couple hours and by changing the timing of her meals so she could not figure out the passage of time. She heard a scuffle outside of her cell. Then later she heard a knock on the wall. Ty talked with her and, from her descriptions of her time there, he said he had an idea for an escape. Soon after, he was opening her cell but was shot in the face with a blaster. Dorsey knocked the enemy guard out by kicking the door into him and she led a blinded Ty into the hall. Fortunately, she recognized the type of ship this was and took them through a ventilation shaft to the ship’s bay for escape. Ty put healing gel on his eyes and at last was able to see Dorsey. Both of them felt the attraction, but she could not be his mate – could she? She was human! But he kissed her and yes, she was his mate and the bond was formed. But there was so much more adventure to come! Would they stay together or go their own way? And who was really after Dorsey? I loved the way the author provided information to the reader through details observed by Darcy and the conversations with Ty. It almost felt like you were there with them! Immediately, both characters were likeable and trustworthy. Having the hope that Ty inspired in her made all the difference to Darcy. The story flowed easily and the twists and turns drew the reader right in! I highly recommend this wonderful book! I’m a new fan of this author and will definitely be sticking with her going forward! I voluntarily read a review copy of this book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.

This is the second book in this series but it is not necessary to read the previous one. It is probably helpful to have read some of the other series involving Detyan warriors but again, not necessary to enjoy the story. What makes this story good for me is Tyral’s respect for Dorsey’s experience and skills. Usually the alpha male just can’t let the woman do her thing. The story itself is different enough from the author’s other books that it is not boring. The sex is hot and doesn’t overtake the story. Another hit by Kate Rudolph. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Dorsey has been abducted and jailed and her ship and cargo taken with no clue why. When she hears another prisoner brought in she starts communicating with him and learns he is Ty the detyen. This story had me on edge, just when you think their ordeal is over, another situation threatens them. I loved the second epilogue where they meet another detyen couple. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
