Acting as a prequel and laying down the foundations to the forthcoming Far Cry 5 game I wasn't expecting this to be high literature, I bought the book as I've been looking forward to the game. My expectations were quickly thrown out of the window as this turned out to be well written and surprisingly thoughtful. The story takes it's time to give the wilderness character and set the tone for the rest of the book and the game. The plot was fascinating and the writing itself was easy to read and yet it had depth and feeling to it. Admittedly I'd never heard of Urban Waite before but considering how good this was I'm quite eager to check out more of his work and recommend this book to others! Unfortunately I'm now even more impatient for the game as the book sets up what looks to be a great adventure.

As a huge fan of all the Far Cry games, I was excited to see this novel had been written. I found it began very slowly, with a heavy focus on the wildness of the character and the living off the land. But thebl the story then takes some very satisfactory turns and the description of the sights and sounds in every situation are extremely vivid yet concise.
