About this eBook

In her small town, dubbed "Dullsville," sixteen-year-old Raven -- a vampire-crazed goth-girl -- is an outcast. But not for long...

The intriguing and rumored-to-be haunted mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood vacant and boarded-up for years. That is, until its mysteriously strange new occupants move in. Who are these creepy people -- especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town prattle actually ring true? Are they vampires? Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander's loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth.

Ellen Schreiber's spooky and stirring romance tells the story of two outsiders who fall in love in a town where conformity reigns, and ends with a shocking surprise.

This whole series is kind of like a Gothic Zenon Girl of the 21st Century, except instead of space, there's vampires and vampire magic...and instead of all the bright colors, there's a lot of real and made up aspects of Gothic culture. The characters of Raven and Zenon are kind of similar, outgoing, loud, excitable, brave, stubborn, they both go off and do their own thing, even if it's not what they should do, or puts them in danger....they always end up with a pretty happy conclusion....over each series, you see the characters mature and develop into a better version of themselves, experience leanding them more depth. Back when I was younger, I enjoyed both the Zenon movies and what books were out for this series....I just recently finished the printed vampire kisses series, -have yet to get my hands on the graphic novels, but overall, I like it well enough. Just, the difference of being in your 30's or being in your (late) teens when reading this series, is huge - understandably so.

I first read this book when I was in 6th/7th grade and fell in love with the series. Even though Raven is goth, her lifestyle helped me plunge into the world of punk-rock, a style I was known for keeping up in high school (unfortunately being punk-rock doesnt go over well when youre a student teacher). I only read them once but have recently started reading the series again and, as I'm much older now, have realized just how corny, cheesy, and childish this story is. Only storybook characters fall in love at first sight (or first bite!). It was cringy to read and a quick read at that. But still, I find myself enjoying it for nostalgic purposes. If you can get passed the first novel then I don't believe you will regret it. If youre in the 6th/7th grade and love vampires, this is the book for you!!!
