Don't waste your time, I'm begging you, read literally any other series. I am shocked a fully grown adult wrote this, and, even more so, made money from it. The world building is horrible, the plot twists make no sense and have horrible build up, and the main romance is bs and horribly toxic. I wanted to slam my head against a brick wall the entire time, and regret wasting my money on it. Don't read these books unless you enjoy mindnummingly bad writing, bland, completly unlikable, or simply throw away, characters, and creepy, toxic minor/adult relationships. Actually, don't read the books if you like any of those things, go to therapy, seek help. I'd give it zero f***ing stars if I could.

I reread this series, and I found that a lot of the details are very easy to follow. it is a story about 2 strong characters that have to deal with decisions of a biased society. I found that the writing was plain, which when following a story could be seen as good or bad. I also found that the relationship is what made this book series unique. I found that Tris and Tobias, with everything that was thrown at them, never once decided to change each other. There were points that they wanted to change themselves but never the other person. I found that their relationship grew with the series, and the conflict of interpersonal relationships got stronger. Veronica Roth is a well communicated author who gets her point across this book through relationships.

I loved the book...the caricatures are compelling. You fall in love with Tris and Four and their friends. I would have given it 5 stars but I just finished the last book and I am so upset with the ending. The book on it's own is so sad but come on and throw us a bone did you have to end it so tragically? Life sucks, why would you try and make us even more depressed.
