Leaves the reader in agony until the end Kay, a newer lawyer, has to change course due to Reese, a detective turned crime scene investigator, and the events in Misdeed. As the story progresses a new course is set, more danger comes that they cannot forget, and the path forward does not promise the culprit they’ll get. W.L. Knightly has the ability to keep the reader guessing at every turn and leaves them in agony until the end when a perceived avenue of truth gets thrown out the window by an amazingly twisted plot change. I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

STOP EVERYTHING! WOW, just WOW. This series has led us down a million paths and every time I've figured out whodunit, I then found something to make me believe I was wrong. The twists, the turns. Read the series in order or you won't have a clue. (You might not anyways). Kay and Reece are both in over their heads and the world is falling down around them. Fast paced read with so many missteps that you won't see THAT end coming. Awesome ending. Awesome series. The authors have managed it again - can't wait to see what's next.

This was not at all the ending I was expecting, and yet it fits perfectly. This whole series has led me on goose chase after wild goose chase. Making me doubt every instinct I possess, and second guess all my pet theories. But I’m proud to report: I was right! In spite of all the evidence to the contrary and the many, many times I was led astray by the events of the previous books, I was correct in my suspected villain. I didn’t come close to being right about their motive, though. That kind of blindsided me and meant that the ending really caught me out of nowhere. I don’t want to even guess where the authors will take us next, but I want to be at the front of the line to go on that ride. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
