About this ebook

3 Mystery books for your reading pleasure.

Silent Crime

This world is evil.

My mother used to tell me that evil only comes to those who are looking for it, and maybe she was right.

Corruption and death walk hand and hand in this town. I refuse to give in, but giving up seems to be my only option.

As a detective, I’ve seen enough killing for ten lifetimes, and now, leaving is the only way to keep my sanity.

I never thought that my last case while training my replacement would have a stranglehold on me personally.

It’s like the Hangman is placing the noose around my neck, and the rope is only getting tighter.

Guilty Crime

With new victims in his sights, the Hangman will stop at nothing to get his revenge, even if it means dragging Detective Jake Thomas down with him.

After making it personal, Jake is even more hellbent on solving the case, even if it means delaying his early retirement.

But when his only informant skips town and Jake finds most of the truth has been buried, not only with missing case files but in his own mind, can he and Detective Jo Calloway unlock the clues they need to bring the Hangman to justice before Chief O’Connor becomes the next victim?

Hidden Crime

Now that Detective Jake Thomas knows the Hangman’s true identity, he’s on the path to wrapping up the case, but when a revelation about Jo’s family makes waves between them, will they be able to see eye to eye and make it happen, or will the truth put obstacles in their way?

When Kyle Young comes to town with an agenda of his own, it puts him straight in the Hangman’s sights. Will the Hangman’s revenge plot go as planned, or will he find himself with some unhealthy competition?

The story is okay. The author, however, has the mind of a chauvinist porker. I would give him the benefit of the doubt, and hope it were only an avid imagination allowing him to portray women as he does - through the thoughts of the criminal characters... Unfortunately, there isn't a Detective, or "good guy" he creates that doesn't also possess disgusting, sexist views on women. When an author can't create a single male character with VALUES & respect for women ... one begins to wonder about his personal characteristics. This author is vile, and uses more degrading, disparaging, tactless language and characters than any other author I have previously read. I hope beyond all hopes that his books are not available to teenagers or young men! My reading W.L. Knightley ends HERE.

Overly loaded with sexual situations and improper police procedures, but the story does move along about a serial killer seeking revenge. By the 3rd book, several mistakes had crept in. Sam seems to be everywhere, and Dannie would never be hired to work a police station front desk. If you can overlook these big blunders, it's an entertaining read.

As other reviews have pointed out, this is not the full series. It's more than a little facetious to present this as three separate novels when it's only half of a, presumably, full story. The writing is uneven, the twists are telegraphed miles in advance, and some of the characterizations are... questionable, and the plot contrivances are thick on the ground. The bones of the story being told are solid, though, and I read all three books on offer here in three days, so despite there being plenty of issues, I hesitate to entirely recommend giving it a skip. I'm on the fence on whether to purchase the fourth book in this series. The quality in both the story and the editing declined steadily, but not precipitously, throughout the first three books, and that doesn't particularly bode well for the fourth. At the same time, I'm 800+ pages in, and I am at least somewhat curious about how the authors bring this plane in to land.
