The country is home to several different cultures—including those of its native tribes, its various European settlers, and mixes of their customs and languages. Living together hasn’t always been peaceful. Most notably, apartheid kept blacks and whites separated for many years. Today, apartheid only exists in the history books of South Africa. Instead of dividing its people, the nation is growing together as it moves toward a bright future.
