About this eBook

In "Welcome to America," Noga Sklar chronicles her first year as a legal immigrant in the US, including the adventure of receiving a Green Card and a South Carolina drivers license. Divided between her working day in Brazil, where she still runs a company through the Internet, and the building of a new foundation in a new country, Noga shares her deep feelings and ironic views on Brazilian and international politics, the American way of life, love and conflict, daily routine, the small things that turn each life into a meaningful, unique experience. Noga has been chronicling her life throughout her marriage with Alan Sklar in 2005, having already published more than 3,000 pages in her native Portuguese. "Welcome to America" is her first book published in English.

About the author

Noga Sklar was born in Tiberias, Israel, in 1952. She grew up in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and lived for 30 years in Rio de Janeiro, a city she eventually left behind to take refuge in Serenity Valley, a paradise among the mountains of Petropolis. Noga met her American husband Alan Sklar in 2004, through the American Jewish dating site, JDate. This meeting gave new impetus to her life and literary career, inspiring her first novel, No Degree of Separation (to be published in English in 2016). She now lives in Greenville, SC, where she moved with her husband in October 2014.
