About this eBook

The Wendigo craves flesh, and will be a slave to its hunger forever.

James’s life is falling apart at the seams.

A dysfunctional marriage. Underemployment. Run-ins with the law.

He yearns for redemption from what he’s done and from what he’s failed to do for his wife, Rebecca, and son, Jr.

But after James’s latest incident, Rebecca attempts an ill-prepared adventure into the Rocky Mountains with Jr. to gather her thoughts.

Things quickly escalate as contact is lost in the restricted area of the forest, and James embarks on a rescue mission.

James won’t fail his family again, bringing with him two expert rescue technicians who seem to know the restricted area a little too well.

They are hiding something. His family needs him.

The forest is hiding something. His family needs him.

Something lurks in the shadows. And it craves them all…

About the author

David Viergutz is a disabled Army veteran, law enforcement veteran, a husband and proud father. He's also a storyteller, an author of horror and thriller novels.

As a teenager, David would often be found dragging a backpack full of books to class, leaving his textbooks behind. He was always captivated by the worlds that authors like Nix, Tolkien, King and Patterson created, and he dreamed of one day creating his own. Years went by and David found himself serving his country in the military, and later in law enforcement. The experiences he had during those years were both thrilling and terrifying, and they left a deep impression on him. David always talked about writing a book, and one day his wife sat him down and gave him the confidence he needed to start putting his imagination on paper. From then on, his creativity knew no bounds and he poured his heart and soul into his writing.

Now, David weaves tales of pulse-pounding realism and nightmare-inducing horror where his years in uniform have given him an unparalleled edge into crafting characters who come alive on the page. — and sometimes die there too. David holds an MFA in Creative Writing and moonlights as a staff writer at Indie Author Magazine.
