About this ebook

The moment Joanna told me she was engaged, I had this awful feeling that something was wrong.

We used to speak on the phone every day. Growing up I spent more time at her house than I did at my own. I’d always imagined what it would be like to see her get married, and now I didn’t even know her fiancé’s name.

She asked me to come and meet Mark and I intended to tell her to slow down. You can’t know someone for a month and be sure that you want to spend the rest of your lives together.

When I got to Joanna’s front door, only Mark was there. He was charming and gorgeous and nothing but nice to me, and I started to understand.

And then he told me that Joanna was missing.

The Bride is a twisty, unputdownable psychological thriller that will have you reading until late at night. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl and anything by Lisa Jewell.

3 for 3! The Bride is the 3rd book I have reviewed of Wendy’s and it is another ripper of a read! It is deviously twisted and layered throughout with a feeling of unease of what’s to come, that will have you enthralled from the beginning till the end. What I love about Wendy’s books is that her plots are always so intriguing and The Bride is no exception. With a chilling prologue and fraught with tension and suspense throughout, Wendy sure knows how to get her readers attention and doesn’t waste any time in kicking things off and keeping the momentum going till the end. Once inseparable, school friends Alice and Joanna lose touch but reconnect after 10 years, when Joanna reaches out to let Alice know of her recent engagement to Mark. When Joanna tells Alice that she has only known Mark for a month, alarm bells go off for Alice. When Joanna asks her to come and meet him, she jumps at the chance and intends to let Joanna know how she feels. But when Alice arrives, Joanna isn’t there and Mark informs her that she has gone missing and this is where the plot thickens… I really enjoyed the structure of the book and how the story takes place mainly the setting of Joanna’s residence, but I must admit though, this did make me feel apprehensive at first. I have read other books where the author has tried to do this, but missed the mark in its execution which left me feeling bored and in some cases not finishing the book. I was so relived that this wasn’t the case here and Wendy does a great job bringing the building to life, making for a character in itself. The characters of Alice and Joanna are very complex and have been written perfectly. Alice’s character resonated with me the most, she is so fragile and her struggles with anxiety is something I know only too well. I enjoyed how there was only a few supporting characters included in the story, which makes for an easier read, the story wasn’t weighed down by them and it means that you don’t have to concentrate too much trying to remember where they all fit in. The Bride is a psychological thriller in every sense of the word. As the story progressed, so did it’s eerie and sinister vibe. My kindle was in overdrive as I was furiously flicking the pages, as the need to know how it was all going to unfold consumed me. When I got there, I was not disappointed! This is another smashing read from Wendy which I highly recommend and I can’t wait for her next book.

The storyline is ridiculous. Not at all believable The characters are never truly developed. Random characters are thrown in which don't make any sense Nothing happens until nearing the end of the book. The ending is also ridiculous. It's one of those books you finish and roll your eyes. Don't waste your time. Top 10 on my list of worst books I ever read

Loved it! Twists and Turns at every corner! Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC copy of THE BRIDE. This book was such a fun read. It had me guessing through the entire book! Just when I thought I had it figured out, the plot would shift. -- Alice's life is in the dumps. After a failed reconciliation trip to her father's and a fiancé who wants to call it off, it's safe to say she's depressed. When an unexpected text comes from an old estranges friend, Joanna, Alice is intrigued. She decides that going to see Joanna might be the best possible distraction. But, when she arrives at Joanna's place, the only one home is her friends fiancé, Mark and it's clear he didn't know she was coming.
