About this ebook

"A touching, charming tale of love won and lost and won again. . . . Brings the Regency period to vivid life."
—Julianna Deering, author of the Drew Farthering Mysteries

Years ago, the man who stole Catherine Winthrop's heart rejected her--and she's never recovered from the grief. Now tragedy has brought him back into her life. This time it isn't her heart he's taking, it’s her home and her family's good name.

Jonathan Carlew's serious demeanor and connection to trade, not to mention the rumors surrounding his birth, have kept him from being a favorite of the ladies, or their parents. Now, suddenly landed and titled, he finds himself with plenty of prospects. But his demanding society responsibilities keep pressing him into service to the one woman who captured his heart long ago--and then ran off with it.

These two broken hearts must decide whether their painful past and bitter present will be all they can share, or if forgiveness can provide a path to freedom for the future.

Set in the sumptuous salons of Bath, Regency England's royal breeding ground for gossip, Winning Miss Winthrop is the first volume in the Regency Brides: A Promise of Hope series. Fans of the wholesome and richly drawn first series won't want to miss this new set of characters--or appearances by their old favorites.

"Fans of Christian Regency romances by Sarah Ladd, Sarah Eden, and Michelle Griep will adore Carolyn Miller's books!"
--Dawn Crandall, award-winning author of The Everstone Chronicles

In a delightful Downton Abbey meets Pride and Prejudice mashup, Miller weaves a story with everything we love about Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy in a Matthew and Mary Crawley-esque drama with rich layers and depth! Catherine Winthrop is a simply enchanting heroine. She is compassionate and kind, loyal, devoted, and long-suffering. Jonathan Carlew is an upright man of faith and integrity. His compassion for everyone in his care is admirable. Although lovers’ spats based almost solely on miscommunication tend to rub me the wrong way, the strict etiquette of the Regency era and the unexpected demise of the responsible party in this instance earn this charming story a pass. Winning Miss Winthrop raises the bar for Regency romance with depth and intrigue to spare and I highly recommend it! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Winning Miss Winthrop by Carolyn Miller is the first in the Regency Brides Series A Promise of Hope. Catherine Winthrop is our heroine and Jonathan Carlew is our hero. They loved each other in the past and the story is how they relearn to love each other in the present. I loved this book. It had a great flow, I enjoyed reading it and the pace to me was perfect. I felt I was in Bath,England and was attending the events with the characters. To me this story reminded me of Persuasion by Jane Austen. Parts of the story were set in Bath, two people who loved each other were separated by someone else, and they eventually came back together. I love Persuasion and enjoyed finding the similarities. If like me you love Regency stories you will love this book. I highly recommend Winning Miss Winthrop and all of Caroline Miller’s books. I received this book from the publisher and was not required to write a review.

This book is okay. Great storey line, an great characters except the lead lady comes off really whiny. An that kills the storey a little. Its a bit long winded, an the couple dosent really interact till the end of the book. So it gets kinda boring. But the book does have a touch of religion in it. Which I enjoyed because she didn't go over board with it like a lot of Christian romance writers do.

About the author

Carolyn Miller lives in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. She is married, with four gorgeous children, who all love to read (and write!).

A longtime lover of Regency romance, Carolyn's novels have won a number of Romance Writers of American (RWA) and American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) contests. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Australasian Christian Writers. Her favourite authors are classics like Jane Austen (of course!), Georgette Heyer, and Agatha Christie, but she also enjoys contemporary authors like Susan May Warren and Becky Wade.

Her stories are fun and witty, yet also deal with real issues, such as dealing with forgiveness, the nature of really loving versus 'true love', and other challenges we all face at different times.

Her books include:

Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace

The Elusive Miss Ellison

The Captivating Lady Charlotte

The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey
