As someone who grew up in a Christian family, I've always been deeply influenced by the devotional readings that have guided me through life's many twists and turns.
From a young age, devotionals have been a source of solace and wisdom for me. I've marveled at how perfectly the themes and passages seemed to align with my life's circumstances at the time I read them. These moments of divine serendipity have been a constant reminder of the strength and guidance that faith provides. They've helped me navigate the complexities of prayer, the importance of building a relationship with God, the transformative power of gratitude, and the journey of growing in faith.
In today's world, fraught with challenges and uncertainties, Christians need to seek strength and reassurance intentionally. Overcoming fear requires developing an unwavering trust in the divine. It was this realization that inspired me to contribute to the spread of faithâs positive influence. I thought, "What if I write a series of devotionals?" And then it hit me, "Why not use the concise yet powerful format of flash fiction as the basis for reflection?"
Flash fiction, with its brevity and impact, has always fascinated me. It's a literary form that distills a story to its essence, creating a powerful narrative punch within a limited word count. This book is an experimentâa fusion of my love for fiction and my desire to share the profound lessons of faith. It's a new venture for me, diverging from my usual fiction writing, and I'm eager to see how readers will react.
Having authored over 10 books, all non-fiction, this is my first foray into blending fiction with devotional writing. Iâm stepping into uncharted territory, fully aware of the many lessons I still have to learn. But Iâm excited about this journey and open to critique. I hope many of you will join me in this leap of faith.
Writing "Wisdom in Whispers" has pushed me to explore human nature and motivations deeply and reflect on the myriad lessons that emerge from these stories. Each flash fiction piece offers a unique lens through which to view life's challenges and blessings, prompting readers to consider their faith from new angles.
While I donât aim to make an earth-shaking impact, I do hope that even a few readers will find these stories and reflections worthwhile. I spent considerable time and effort crafting the stories and reflections; if they touch even one life, I will consider this experiment a success.

He studied journalism at the University of the Philippines - Diliman and honed his skills working for several prominent national newspapers, including Ang Pahayagang Malaya, The Manila Times, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Fort Nicolas has written a number of books. Throughout his career, he has shared his expertise through lectures on writing and journalism. Mr. Nicolas served as the editor of The Filipino Methodist Magazine and provided communication consultancy services to various church-affiliated and non-governmental organizations. Mr. Nicolas continues to contribute his talents and knowledge in the field of communication and writing to the church and the non-profit organizations.
