The Way Of Christian Character

After receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior I need to learn to be his disciple. In order to be a true disciple of Christ Jesus the marks of his character must be evident in my life, not just in theory or head knowledge, but in practice. The Lord Jesus wants us to first be one with him in character by thoroughly putting him on before we can be sent to minister for him. This implies that ministry is even secondary to christian character and the development of Christian character is what qualifies us for ministry. The author begins the book by defining what Christian character is and presenting a contrast between the character of the devil and the character of Jesus. He goes further to present a summary on how this character is acquired (the seven-fold origin of Christian character) and maintained. He then expatiates on Christian character as a manifestation of the fruit of the spirit as presented in Galatians 5. Several biblical examples are used to practically illustrate the manifestations and steps to follow in order to build the various traits are outlined. In order to adequately develop Christian character, we must all enroll in God's school of discipleship and allow him to work in us and through us. His desire is to produce in us a full manifestation of the fruit of the spirit by putting off all that is unchristlike and having our minds set on Christ and spiritual things. This book is a must read for anyone who desires to be used by God for the accomplishment of his purposes. God bless us as we read prayerfully with expectant and malleable hearts.
