Someone is brutally killing women. Women who bear a striking resemblance to former DCI Carol Jordan. The connection is too strong to ignore and soon psychological profiler Tony Hill finds himself dangerously close to the investigation, just as the killer is closing in on his next target.

This is a killer like no other, hell-bent on inflicting the most severe and grotesque punishment on his prey. As the case becomes ever-more complex and boundaries begin to blur, Tony and Carol must work together once more to try and save the victims, and themselves.

A breathless, thrilling mystery from the number one bestseller.

Val Mc Dermid at her best. I read it in no time as I couldn't put it down, which is why I'm at the playstore, having no more books here on holiday overseas . I love the torturous relationship between Carol Jordan and Tony Hill, and the race to understand the psyche of the murderer before they do it again. Can't wait for her next novel

As usual, Ms McDermid keeps the pages turning with another Tony Hill story. This time, however, he finds himself on the other side of the fence. The author never fails to deliver a pacy, punch of a story and I was saddened when it was over. More please!!!

Very enjoyable for an afternoon but didn't have your nerves stretched as tight as piano strings! Less menacing than previous books. The villain wasn't chillingly sinister and easy to spot early on. Good read for the price though.
