An engaging, readable, well-researched book all about Hoover Dam, including the players who led the backroom wrangling. Especially valuable today in 2022, the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Colorado River Compact, the keystone document in the Law of the River, and the source of today's turmoil about an overallocated Colorado River.

He currently serves as the Times’s business columnist and hosts its business blog, The Economy Hub.
