About this ebook

“The curse is upon us! Beware the bagpipes!”

Whenever the fearsome fetch of Camdyn Dalreagh, first chieftain, plays a ghostly rendition on the bagpipes, a death is close at hand... so legend goes.

But is the story of the curse really true?

Through the ages, Castle Dunrannoch has been a place of intrigue, ambition, and more than the occasional murder!

As the Christmas snow falls deep, our two intrepid heroines, Flora and Ursula, face danger within the ancient fortress walls.

Can they discover the truth before their loved ones meet a grisly end?

Two things are certain.

No lionhearted lady can turn a blind eye when there is a mystery to be solved.

And no laird's heart is safe when our heroines sweep into action.

'Christmas at Castle Dunrannoch' features two stories from the 'Lady's Guide' series:

The Lady’s Guide to a Highlander's Heart (an 'enemies to lovers' historical romance)

The Lady's Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem (an 'opposites attract' historical romance)

2 separate stories set in different times but about the same family in the same castle, where the same curse affects the events. I loved that there was a common theme in these stories but that they were also very different. The first book, deals with misunderstanding, and trust, the story jumps a little but is still easy of follow. The second book, is much more modern, I like that the hero is not the typical character, and has a different background. Again the curse makes life interesting, and the events need unraveling. The writing pulls you into the story easily, and the details paint a complete picture without being over wordy. I would love to read more about this family through different time periods. Having previously read the two novellas in this book, here are the reviews I had posted.... The Lady's Guide to a Highlander's Heart....... Another delightful "Lady's Guide" quick read by Emmanuelle de Maupassant. Before I say anything else....LOVE the cover!!! Flora and Ragnall's story is a bit unusual and the author keeps us on the edge of our seat as the mystery is revealed who her father's murderer is. Secrets, misunderstandings, revenge and of course, heated passions are part of this story. Being a short story, the characters are not as fully developed like in a full story but they both come across as good and likeable characters:) The Lady's Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem...... This is quite the entertaining story and it contains a bit of everything....humour, romance, mystery, danger and a cast of characters that you will not soon forget! Not only do we have a heroine who is on the run, she also takes on the identity of a woman who'd died on the train she was on and we also have a Texan rancher who has come to Scotland to take his place as the Dunrannoch heir. If that isn't enough mayhem, there's also a curse going on at the castle!! Being a novella, there isn't time to savour a long romance between Ursula and Rye so it's pretty much instant love but I don't mind that since I do believe in love at first sight:) I really enjoy this author's way of writing, you always know you're going to get an exciting story!

The first story I previously read and reviewed. I have copied that review here: "I got what I always get when I read this author; an awesome story! I loved this book. I loved the characters. I had trouble putting this book down. It was like the story put a spell on me that would only break by reaching the end." The second story was new to me. Ursula and Rye are likeable characters. I love their story. Of course, for me, what's not to like, there's mystery, a curse and a ghost that plays the bagpipes. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
