In RUNE SHARES A SECRET, Rune, our little hero, learns that sometimes adults ask you to keep secrets you shouldn't keep. Sometimes, you feel like those secrets and the reason they exist can make you feel very badly. Rune learns to trust the instincts that say, "Hey, this doesn't feel right." Rune learns assertiveness. Rune learns to speak up. Rune will confront some internal struggles with bravery, self-compassion, and self-empowerment. Rune will learn to talk about things that can be difficult, but are worthwhile to discuss. Ultimately, Rune will learn to listen to the little voice inside no matter how someone else tries to quiet it.
Through Rune's story, your child will learn to think for themselves, compassion, empathy, and to trust that when something happens and they are not fond of it, it's okay to say so. Your child will learn that even if they are afraid, they can and should speak up.
The RUNE CHILDREN'S BOOK SERIES will speak to the more difficult issues that arise in life, giving children everywhere language they might not have known to express the big feelings they may be having. They will learn in a way that is sensitive and age-appropriate to lean into trusting themselves when they feel their big feelings as well as how to effectively and honestly express themselves. It’s a series that provides parents and caregivers the opportunity to also prepare their children for potential difficulties, struggles, or situations in which using their own little voices will help them. It teaches children the art of assertive communication, empathy, and compassion for those around them as well.

Melissa currently lives in Illinois with her family. Her experiences as a child have motivated her to create books that provide children with stories that help them feel less alone in their own experiences, help them overcome fears and anxieties they feel about them, learn words to help them share what they are feeling, and encourage them to share.
