About this ebook

A forgotten past, a dark mage, and an unyielding curse.

Another team beat free-spirited archaeologist Olivia Perez to the dig of a lifetime, and now she’s left with the choice to wait for scraps or brave a dangerous, dusty tomb in hopes of finding other priceless artifacts. Her reward? A mysterious key she has no idea is cursed. Soon, Olivia realizes she’s brought home more than just an ancient rarity.

Malevolent visions begin to plague her. Unnerved by what they reveal, she casts away the key...unknowingly placing it into the waiting hands of a dark mage bent on destruction. Only when a shifter agent from the Paranormal Intelligence and Tracking Organization arrives searching for the key does Olivia realize what a huge mistake she’s made.

Forced to team up with the ill-tempered shifter, her journey to reclaim the cursed key leads down a twisting path of dark histories, dangerous magic, and deadly obstacles. But Olivia’s efforts to take back the ancient relic before the dark mage can destroy the lives of humans, shifters, witches, and fae alike are thwarted by her own dark past...and a price steeper than what she’s willing to pay.

Olivia is called to a ruins in Brazil. Olivia and her team are not the first to arrive. She is drawn to go into a different location, what she finds blows her mind. She decides she is going to investigate the site. Things there feel familiar to Olivia and she doesn't understand why. When she discovers the key, she gets out of there. She feels like she being followed, she hasn't seen the jaguars yet Olivia doesn't tell anyone of the discovery she found. Olivia arrives home and things are to get out of control for her. She is really drawn to the key, weird visions and weird energy coming out of her hand. She decides to bury the key. Once she buries it, she goes back for it. She runs into a guy in robes and really weird. He gets away. While having coffee, there is a guy staring Olivia down, she decides to leave. He follows her with no problem. She thinks she lost him, only for him to be at her home. He too wants the key, but he says he doesn't want to hurt her. She tells him that she doesn't have it. Olivia finds out his name is Kael, he was the jaguar from the site. The adventure for Olivia and Kael are just beginning, the story is a roller coaster ride you will love to be on. Kael not liking pretty much anyone that isn't a shifter and Olivia that is just being introduced to this. She is just as stubborn as he is. I am not quite sure what to make of this book. There are elements of it that I enjoyed, but there were definitely some issues with it. I enjoyed the paranormal aspect and the idea that such a paranormal world existed was unknown to the heroine at the book start, but I didn't feel like the MacGuffin, the key, was explained well enough so that the reader would know why it was so important to everyone. We weren't really given much background about it to understand its significance nor were we told what exactly it did. I thought that the two main characters had grating personalities, which sometimes made them annoying to read about. I also thought the heroine acted unprofessionally and unethically at times. The opening jungle sequence was a good start to the story, but then the pacing slowed down to a crawl when the heroine returned to the United States; luckily, it did pick up again towards the middle of the book. Some of these flaws may be overlooked when you're reading because the author actually has a good writing style. It is engaging, especially in the action parts, and easy to read. But then only when you start thinking about the story do its flaws truly become apparent.

Much to her ,disappointment, archaeologists Olivia Perez and team trek to the dangerous Amazon only to find they are third on the scene of a new find. While she surveys the ruins her instincts pull her west. After a harrowing climb she finds more ruins and this time she is first. Only suddenly a giant panther appears and she finds herself falling. Her reward is a mysterious key. It is not until she has brought it home that she realizes it may be cursed. Dark dreams plague her so she gets rid of the key. Then the Paranormal Intelligence and Tracking Organization comes seeking the key. But she no long, ear has it and then her troubles really begin. This is an amazing adventure filled with mystery, magic, paranormals and heart stopping action. The characters are well defined, interesting, charismatic and personable. The stakes are high. The action is non stop and very well described. The sense of urgency and suspense builds throughout the book. They storyline is easy to read and is filled with amazing twists, unexpected turns and interesting surprises. It is also a journey of self discovery for Olivia as she deals with her growing power. So much is going on in this book yet it is easy to read. Being the first in a trilogy means we have to read two more books to get to the end, I can hardly wait until I can read the next book.
