No airs, straight forward and entertaining. Born close to the end of the British Raj, boarding school all aspects typical of upper middle class up bringing with out pretension. We learn more about her parents, son and husband and her greatest achievement, helping retired Ghurka Soldiers get their much deserved pensions and benefits. The historically the British Government does not treat those well, who give them great loyalty. It just makes me admire her more.

About the author
Joanna Lumley was born in post-war Kasmir, the daughter of a major in the 6th Gurkha Rifles. Raised in the south of England, she is a former model and actress, best known for her roles in The New Avengers, Absolutely Fabulous and Sensitive Skin. Her recent credits include the stage play The Lion in Winter and Martin Scorsese's film The Wolf of Wall Street.
